Copper is a fantastic material for heat conductivity and can help to cook food quickly and more evenly. So let's take a quick look at some of the features, benefits and possibly some of the disadvantages to.

Advantages

I'm sure you are well aware that many of the high-end manufacturers are making cookware made from copper. Some of them prefer using this simply because it uses malleable and ductile metal. It's also very functional compared to using other materials like stainless steel, aluminium and glass.

It can heat up very quickly and one of the best advantages is that it heats up evenly across the base to give them more even heat so that you are cooking food evenly. Because of this effectiveness on heat distribution you get less burn spots on the bottom compared to other types of materials.

It can easily be cleaned and maintaining it is not really that difficult. Have you ever been in a kitchen where you see copper cookware and they have that beautiful shiny look - personally I think this looks amazing and is something we all strive to do to help maintain the investment that purchasing copper cookware can be. You will also find that many people prefer copper that looks aged and scratched and to be honest this can also look at amazing depending on the type of kitchen is in. You really have to decide whether this is advantage or disadvantage or as my mother used to say a feature.

Disadvantages

There are many great and fantastic aspects of owning copper cookware. However, there are always some negativities expressed by amateur and professional cooks. One of these is it can easily get scratched and this is why you'll find many manufacturers mixing in other types of material to help reduce this. I suppose it depends on your perspective some people do not like a material that scratches easily and some people think that this is a feature.

As I'm sure you are also aware once you start to heat up copper color and appearance can change. Again I'm not sure if this is a disadvantage but it is definitely something that you should be aware of if you have not used them before. Some people particularly like saying that there beautiful copper color change from Orange, purple and dark pink.

You'll still find many top professionals using cookware that is made from copper (and mixed with other materials) you will find that many high-end cookware is made from this and you will sometimes find this reflected in the price because they offer quality and something that will last a long time. I think making a decision on purchasing copper cookware is an investment for your household and is definitely something that will last for many years to come.
